Emmanuel Anyiam-Osigwe MBE will pen a weekly column for Screenlately.com on the day-to-day challenges and rewards of being a film and television producer and provide data and analysis on how the film and TV business operates.
Emmanuel will be writing his Screenlately column detailing the issues and joys of working in film and TV.
As the first person in the UK to be honoured by Her Majesty The Queen for services to the Black and Ethnic film industry, Emmanuel’s work is best known as founder of the British Urban Film Festival (BUFF) and for its disruptive approach to film coverage, working with household industry names and emerging talent to scale growth and generate sustainable finances.

Emmanuel’s experience in building and creating a film festival has led him to invest in filmmakers and additional businesses within the film and TV sector, all of which he will be writing about as well.
In addition to his accolades as a film exhibitor, Emmanuel was invited to join as a jury voter for the Creators of Colour Incubator, part of ‘The Big Pitch’ at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival. He has previously served as a full voting member of BAFTA, a jury member for the Aesthetica Short Film Festival (ASFF, York) and a jury voter for the Triforce Monologue Slam (Luton).
In February 2018 Anyiam-Osigwe co-founded BUFF Originals, the production arm of the British Urban Film Festival, releasing his first feature film as a producer (No Shade).
Emmanuel’s first column next week will analyse Channel 4’s ‘Black to Front’ coverage.
