Yesterday, a Nintendo Switch rating for Borderlands 3: Director’s Cut was spotted on the PEGI ratings board.
What’s a bit weird about this is the fact the “Director’s Cut” is actually a Season 2 DLC add-on (which just got released this week on other platforms) and the base game hasn’t even been confirmed for the hybrid system.
So, what’s going on? While many believe it could be a sign of a more official announcement in the future, GameSpot writer and verified Twitter user Gabe Gurwin has supposedly been in contact with a 2K representative. Apparently, Borderlands 3 is “not coming to Switch” and it’s an “error” on PEGI’s end that 2K has now had removed.
We’ve had a look ourselves, and sure enough – the Nintendo Switch listing is now gone from the official PEGI rating:
Nintendo LifeAlthough the Nintendo rating for this DLC has been removed, there’s still (arguably) mounting evidence that Borderlands 3 could eventually land on the Switch. Apart from every other entry in the series already being available on this hardware, there was one rather interesting discovery made by YouTuber Doctre81 last September.
Development studio and port specialist Fractured Byte posted a job listing seeking game developers (familiar with Switch) to work on an Unreal Engine project. The genre was a “shooter” and one of the tasks was to aid shipping games – like the first two Borderlands games – for the Switch.
It turns out Fractured Byte also collaborated with Turn Me Up Games to help bring Borderlands: The Legendary Collection to Switch. Hmm, interesting!
